From June 3 to June 8, the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) hosted the World Council of the Salesian Family, an organization that brings together the Superiors and Leaders of various groups, associations, and religious institutes inspired by the charism of St. John Bosco.
Traditionally convened in Turin, the Council took place this year exceptionally in Rome, on the occasion of the Holy Year, thus offering participants the opportunity to experience the Jubilee’s spiritual journey with greater intensity. The meeting represented a valuable moment for sharing experiences, developing common pastoral paths, and reflecting together on the Salesian mission in the world.
During the discussions on Thursday, June 5, the Rector of UPS, don Andrea Bozzolo, presented the Council members with the final document of the Synod on Synodality, in which he participated as an expert. In his presentation, Father Bozzolo highlighted the key insights of the synodal text and the perspectives it can offer to the journey of the Salesian Family, especially in terms of promoting a more synodal, participatory, and missionary ecclesial culture.
Another particularly significant moment occurred on Saturday, June 7, when the Council members met with the new Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation, don Fabio Attard, who was elected last March during the 29th General Chapter. Father Attard presided over the Eucharist and led the meeting dedicated to selecting the theme for the 2026 Strenna, one of the most anticipated and significant events for the global spiritual and pastoral orientation of the Salesian Family.
