FINALITÀ

The Hebrew Bible is one of the world’s greatest pieces of literature and refers to the common portions of the Jewish and Christian biblical canon. Although many modern translations of the Hebrew Bible exist today, there are also many reasons to learn Hebrew, for example, to help the student understand the original author’s words and to enjoy the skill of the Bible’s Hebrew poets. The Biblical Hebrew 1course is designed to help the student acquire basic skills in reading biblical Hebrew through vocabulary building, the study of grammar and the reading of selected texts from the Hebrew Bible.

ARGOMENTI

This course begins with an introduction to the most basic elements of Hebrew grammar with the accent on the noun, the “qal stem” of the verb and Hebrew sentence structure. The study of grammar will be accompanied by selected readings from the Hebrew Bible. Moreover, instruction in the use of the Hebrew Lexicon and the Bible Works Computer Program will also be offered. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: • Students will be able to read and translate simple sentences from the Hebrew Bible. • They will also be capable of using standard aids such as Dictionaries, Lexicons and Bible Works Software in their future biblical and theological research.
