To acquire a basic and synthetic general knowledge about Canon Law in the life and the mission of the Church, from the early Church until the current codifications: Codex Iuris Canonici of 1983 (CIC – CCL) and Codex Canonum Ecclesiarum Orientalium of 1990 (CCEO).
To learn the basic norms established in Book I of the CIC/83.

Ecclesiastical decrees. Ecclesiastical juridical acts. Statutes and Ordinances. Counting of Time.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to: Recognize and distinguish the common grounds and the differences of theology and law; identify the different periods of history of Canon Law and its interdisciplinary nature and essence; assimilate the meaning of laws established in Book I of CIC/83; interpret basic ecclesiastical laws and be enabled to apply them in day-to-day cases involving the ministry and life of the Christian faithful.
